Climbing as a way of life
Master’s degree in Physical Education (INEFC-Barcelona).
Participation in the Raiverd (Adventure Racing) leads to first contact with the climbing world. From here on, there have been successful big wall ascents in Spain and abroad. New routes, significant repetitions, solo ascents or with a partner/s, depending on the moment, the motivation and the need.
Adding to each new adventure a new ingredient that allows each climb to be a challenge, because what she isn’t entirely sure she could achieve, increases her motivation to try it.
Numerous first world ascents in remote areas, always without communication devices; no radio, no phone, no GPS, to establish a high technical difficulty route.
Mostly alone, without climbing partners and often also without external help (porters, cooks, photographers…), to be able to experience this chosen solitude in all its magnitude.
On the nearest walls, next to home: Montserrat, Montrebei, Vilanova de Meià… also Picu Urriellu to further walls: Himalaya (India), Karakorum (Pakistan), Baffin Island (Canada), Cordillera Blanca (Andes, Peru), Patagonia (Argentina and Chili), Main de Fatma (Mali, Africa), Alaska (USA)…
All this has meant international recognition that made her the recipient of numerous awards, including; a special mention of the Piolet d’Or (Briançon, France 2021), galardón internacional sin distinción de género en el moman international award without gender distinction at the time and first person in the country to receive it. Also the Gold Medal for Sports Merit 2022 (High Council of Sports, Spain) which carries the consideration of DAN (High-Level Athlete).
Also noteworthy are the Women and Sports Award from the Barcelona City Council 2022, the FEDME Centenary Award 2022 and 8 awards for the best mountaineering activity of the year, awarded by the Spanish Mountain and Climbing Federation (FEDME) and 6 awards in the same category from the FEEC (Catalan Mountain and Climbing Federation).
Plus the Flor de Neu 2023 award (Torelló Mountain Film Festival) and the 2022 Spanish Geographycal Society honour award 2022.
In 1996, when he had only been climbing for two years, the FEDME awarded her the Piolet de Oro (award at the state level) for her solo ascent of Principado de Asturias route (Picu Urriellu, Asturias 1996).
Thanks to all my climbing partners for the shared experiences and to my family and friends unconditional support because without you theses adventures won’t be possible.

Sílvia has climbed numerous first ascents worldwide, all without any means of communication (no radio, no telephone, no GPS), and many accomplished alone and entirely independently. Months of isolation in remote and wild areas have earned her several international awards.
